Class Starts This Week! Welcome to Hennepin Technical College!
I am VERY excited to kick off a brand new semester with each of you! I went to HTC myself years ago & couldn’t be happier being right back here at HTC… When it comes down to anything Graphic & Design related, it is such an enjoyable breath of fresh air away from everything else… Just zone out and design… I definitely look forward to connecting with all of you in our classes.
Some of our highlights over past few years include a handful of field trips, and also quite a few industry guest speakers joining our classrooms, even via Zoom… One of them was the User Experience designer from Expedia and designed how you shop online for their flights… Another bought a screen printing kit 15 years ago on craigslist and turned it into a million dollar company here in Minnesota… How wild is that?
Please reach out ANY TIME you have any questions… My email is [email protected] and also feel free to text my cell any time as well 952-200-7732. See you soon! -Dustin

Getting to Know Each Other – Class Introductions
*Submit Discussion into D2L
Let’s get to know each other a bit! The more we can get to know each other, the better we can all work together and help each other down the road with various projects, work, even our future careers! I look forward to all of us learning as much as we can from each other this semester…
Please share the following with our class:
1. What general area of the cities are you are from?
2. What program you are in?
3. Do you have any type of job while in school? What type of industry or job or business it is?
4. Outside of school and work, what is one thing you enjoy doing as a hobby?
5. Any interesting fact(s) about yourself that you’d like to share? Let’s hear it!
6. Please include a photo of yourself! Lots of brand new students this semester, this will dramatically help everyone get to know each other so much more:)
Thank you all, looking forward to a fun semester together!
My Name is Dustin…

1. What general area of the cities are you are from? I am originally from Eden Prairie, lived in South Minneapolis & St Louis Park, I also moved out to Southern California for about 3 winters, but now for some reason just love it right back here in the snow and recently bought my first small townhome in Eden Prairie. By the way, don’t wait until you are almost 40 years old to do this, I wish I had invested earlier in life!
2. What program you are in? I actually went to school right here at HTC and graduated back in 2005, I was enrolled in our Graphic Design Web Emphasis AAS Degree, and then continued into a Web Programming AAS Degree and graduated a second time in 2006. Paul Howlett, our department lead, was my teacher too, one semester he taught 4 of my 5 classes!
3. Do you have any type of job while in school? I build and fix websites & online stores… LOTS of them. I worked remotely from home for a good 10+ years, and will certainly teach you how to do the same… I also have a small apparel business with an office/warehouse located about 2 miles from the school where a handful of students have even taken internships, some of which have turned into full-time jobs. Reach out any time you’d like to learn more about what we do! We love seeing new students in our facility. Our website is https://lifebrand.co/ and our more recognizable logo is our Ride MN logo that I made white living in my dad’s basement maybe 10 years ago: https://lifebrand.co/browse/brand/ride-brand/ride-minnesota/
4. Outside of school and work, what is one thing you enjoy doing as a hobby? Riding bikes! If it has 2 wheels I’ll usually hop on… And if there is a jump nearby I’ll usually launch off it. This is something I grew up doing, even when I was going to college here, and it’s always been my escape in life… Bikes & websites… We even jump our bikes into the Polar Plunge & fundraise with Special Olympics! You should join us, we had 46 people on our team last year, sign up here if interested: https://lifebrand.co/polar-plunge/
5. Any interesting fact(s) about yourself that you’d like to share? I may, or may not, own 2 vans… It’s a Van Thing! With all the apparel we have been making I’ve been needing more space, including trailers, and I recently had to get a truck for the first time… I’ve never been the truck type, however, just being open to something different changed life in more ways than I would have ever expected… If I’ve learned anything over the years, having the right equipment for the job makes the job easier and that much more enjoyable. Oh, and I have a new pup! His name is Rider, he’s a “cavapoo” cavalier/poodle mix… And my mother has his little sister Riley:) I totally understand the dog thing now! Sometimes I’ll bring him to class if interested… Here is his photo, my fiance & I gave him a mohawk lol https://share.zight.com/Jru5N1ZJ
6. Here is my pic linked below from the banner I have in our area of D2L… Reach out any time I can help you with anything this semester:) Thanks again everyone, looking forward to getting to know everyone https://share.getcloudapp.com/GGuRpRQ1
